What is Briscola?

Objective
The goal of Briscola is to win tricks, which consist of a round of cards played by all players, aiming to collect the highest-scoring cards.
Setup
Deck: A standard Italian 40-card deck (coins, swords, cups, batons).
Players: 3 or 4 players (partnerships may be formed in 4-player games).
Dealing:
3 Players: Each player gets 10 cards.
4 Players: Each player gets 8 cards.
Briscola Suit: One suit is designated as trump. This is the suit that will win in case of ties or if no higher-ranked card exists in the leading suit.
Gameplay
Card Ranking:
Briscola suit has higher rank compared to the other suits.
Trump cards (within the briscola suit) are always higher than non-trump cards of the same rank.
For non-trump suits: The sequence is 7 > 6 > 5 > 4 > 3 > 2 > Ace.
Turn:
A dealer is chosen, who shuffles and deals the cards.
Players take turns playing one card at a time, clockwise.
The player who played the highest-ranked card of the leading suit (or the highest trump card if a trump card is played) wins the trick.
Scoring the Tricks:
The winner of each trick takes all the cards and leads the next one.
The player with the most tricks at the end of the round wins points.
Winning Conditions:
Points are earned by winning tricks containing the highest cards (particularly 7s).
Each suit’s ranking: 7 > 6 > 5 > 4 > 3 > 2 > Ace.
The Briscola suit always trumps other suits.
